Does the WA Building Act require evacuation diagrams?
No. Neither the Building Act 2011 nor the Building Regulations 2012 mentions evacuation diagrams. For most workplaces the real duty is an emergency plan: regulation 43 of the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 requires businesses to prepare, maintain and implement one covering evacuation, testing and training. WorkSafe WA's code of practice adds that emergency procedures should, where relevant, cover displaying a site plan showing exits, fire equipment and assembly points. WorkSafe inspectors, not DFES, issue improvement notices under that law.
Do mining sector head offices in Perth follow the same rules as other offices?
